LAS VEGAS (AP) — A former “Dances With Wolves” actor accused of sexually abusing Indigenous women and girls in the U.S. and Canada has asked a judge in Nevada to toss out a sweeping indictment against him, saying two Las Vegas area women identified as victims wanted to have sex with him.One of the women was younger than 16 — the age of consent in Nevada — when she says Nathan Chasing Horse began sexually abusing her. Clark County District Court Judge Carli Kierny said Wednesday that she would issue her decision before the end of the week. She didn’t offer any indication as to how she might rule during her questioning of state prosecutors and Chasing Horse’s public defender.Chasing Horse, 46, was indicted in Nevada in February on 19 counts, including sexual assault of a minor, kidnapping, child abuse, lewdness and drug trafficking. He also faces sexual abuse charges in Canada and the U.S. District Court in Nevada, as well as on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in Montana....Video shows men abandoning, tying up German shepherd puppy to fence in South Miami-Dade

A South Miami-Dade couple was stunned when they found a dog that was abandoned and alone on their property. Now, they want to know who dumped the puppy at their doorstep. Speaking with 7News on Wednesday, Jennifer Thompson said the German shepherd puppy was abandoned and tied to a fence outside her home with a 3-inch leash. “The dog was out there for about 16 hours before we even found it,” she said. “I’ve been gone for a few days. What if I stayed for a week? She would have been dead.”Thompson’s home surveillance cameras were rolling when a white pickup truck drove by along the 16000 block of Southwest 256th Street, just after 6 p.m., Tuesday. The driver appeared to look up the driveway. The truck then came back, stopped, and a man in a blue shirt popped the tailgate. He led the pup off the truck bed and took off. The puppy was seen chasing after them, but at some point, just past the hedges, someone got out and tied the German shepherd to the fence.Th...TikTok banned across Florida universities, including FIU, FAU

Before great white sharks migrate north to Cape Cod for the summer and fall, shark researchers are trying to figure out where and when the apex predators mate.Right now in early April, many of the East Coast great whites are off the North Carolina coast, and scientists from the nonprofit OCEARCH will be heading to the region soon to collect data from sharks. The researchers hope to sample mature white sharks to solve the most elusive piece of the Western North Atlantic white shark puzzle: when and where they breed.“Our comprehensive studies of the white shark, the ocean’s top predator, are in their final stages in the Western North Atlantic, and now we turn our attention to a gap that still remains,” said OCEARCH Chief Scientist Bob Hueter. “This is the great migration of sharks from their overwintering grounds off the southeast U.S. towards their summer feeding areas, as increasing spring temperatures and light levels signal to the sharks that it’s time...Air pollution may increase dementia risk, Harvard researchers find: ‘A big step in providing actionable data’

Chan School of Public Health scientists found consistent evidence of a link between the exposure to fine particulate air pollutants (PM2.5) and dementia. The Environmental Protection Agency is looking at a proposal to strengthen PM2.5 regulations, and the researchers emphasized that their findings support the public health importance of limiting exposure to these fine particulate air pollutants.“This is a big step in providing actionable data for regulatory agencies and clinicians in terms of making sense of the state of the literature on this hugely important health topic,” said lead author Marc Weisskopf, who’s a Cecil K. and Philip Drinker professor of Environmental Epidemiology and Physiology.“The results can be used by organizations like the Environm...3 things we learned from the Chicago Cubs’ rain-shortened series in Cincinnati, including the top of the order setting the tone
